Ciaran Price scored the only goal of the game as Builth Wells booked their place in the final of the Aspidistra Radnorshire Cup with victory over arch rivals Llandrindod Wells at the Lant Field.

BUILTH WELLS 1 - LLANDRINDOD WELLS 0

The rivals had met recently at The Broadway where the teams shared the spoils following a 2-2 draw in the league.

The early stages of this derby were relatively even with neither team creating any clear opportunities to test either goalkeeper.

The hosts had a good opportunity to break the deadlock in the 15th minute when Alex Hicks was unable to keep his close-range effort under the crossbar following a low cross delivered from the right flank.

Llandrindod Wells responded within 60 seconds as Robbie Nicholls drove into the home penalty area but saw his run halted by a well-timed challenge just as he was about to pull the trigger. Nicholls had two further opportunities within the next 10 minutes as he looked to take the match to the Bulls.

The opening half ended with Daryl Nicholls seeing his 15-yard shot deflected behind for a corner to Llandrindod Wells which they were not able to profit from.

Both teams knew during the interval that a place in the final was very much up for grabs and it seemed that a single goal was likely to determine the outcome of this local derby.

Daniel Hall saw his close-range effort blocked by the Llandrindod Wells defence four minutes after the interval before Ciaran Price was afforded enough time and space in the 52nd minute to strike a low 25-yard shot into the bottom corner of Davies' net.

The hosts saw the game out to book a place in the final against league rivals and Aspidistra Radnorshire Cup holders Radnor Valley on Easter Sunday.
