LLANDRINDOD Wells kick started their Spar Mid Wales league Division One campaign with an impressive 3-0 victory at Llanidloes Town.

There were excellent performances from the Spa men from Robbie Nicholls and Rhys Davies, who stepped up from The Reserves, and two goals from Richie Powell saw them two up at the break.

Despite seeing Ashley Jones sent off in the second half, Llandrindod remained in control and a third goal from Robbie Nicholls clinched the win.

At the top of the table, Penrhyncoch are two points clear as Dean Evans marked his debut with a stunning strike to snatch a 4-3 win at Welshpool Town.

Nathan Warren and Aiden Nyhus had put the league leaders two up but a second half brace from Wil Thomas levelled matters. Warren grabbed his second to put Penrhyn ahead again but Rob Cookson equalised before former Bow Street man, Evans got off the substitute’s bench to net his wonder goal.

There was another 4-3 thriller at Tywyn where Llanrhaeadr were 4-3 winners to go second in the table.

Paul Grant gave Tywyn the lead from the penalty spot but Tom Evans had levelled by the break. Iwan Matthews (pen) and Gary Meredith took Llanrhaeadr 3-1 ahead after the break but Tywyn hit back through Mark Edmondson and an own goal before Matthews grabbed his second to win it for the visitors.

Llanrhaeadr move above Carno who were held to a 1-1 draw at Bow Street. Colin Reynolds have Carno the lead from an Ollie Lewis corner but Stephen Harrison equalised for Bow Street. Knighton Town were frustrated when their game at Machynlleth was postponed.
