BRECON’S budding rugby stars have gone head to head with their Welsh sporting heroes thanks to the nation’s leading oil supplier.

Pupils from Gwernyfed High School took on Welsh international Dan Lydiate and former international Dafydd Jones at a recent training day organised by Oil 4 Wales.

The players, who are sporting ambassadors for the community-focussed oil brand, carried out drills and demonstrated some of their famous moves for a group of 25 boys from Year 7 and 8.

The training day was labelled “a huge success” with pupils and parents alike delighted to welcome the rugby stars to the school.

Oil 4 Wales managing director Colin Owens said: “As a family-run business, which works in communities across Wales, our main focus is giving back to our loyal customers who have supported us over the years.

“Our ethos has, and always will be, to work with the community and for the community putting our customers at the heart of everything we do.

“As such, we were delighted to be able to bring both Dafydd and Dan to Gwernyfed High School, and give the pupils an experience they will never forget.

“The Year 7 and 8 boys were brilliant, and even gave the players a run for their money on the day!

“I certainly think there are a few future Welsh rugby stars there.”

This is just the latest in a string of community-focussed events hosted by Oil 4 Wales to reward its loyal customers across Wales. At the recent launch of its Maesteg 24/7 petrol garage lucky customers got the chance to meet even more rugby stars, including Rob Evans, Ken Owens, and Jonathan Davies, and even got autographs and photos with their heroes.

The brand also put its customers evolving needs first with the recent launch of its online oil ordering service, which allows customers to purchase vital business, residential and agricultural supplies on the go.

This will enhance the service for its 65,000 domestic and commercial customers across Wales who rely on the family-run brand for a range of fuel services.
