WALES Rally GB returns to Powys later this week with the county hosting six timed stages of the final round of this year’s FIA World Rally Championship.
The concluding round of the 2015 WRC will be fought out over 19 competitive Special Stages in Mid and North Wales.
With a maximum 160 car field, the capacity line-up includes the world’s top rally stars. Last year’s Wales Rally GB winner and reigning World Rally Champion Sébastien Ogier will be favorite for victory having retained his world title and Volkswagen secured the manufacturers championship.
UK and Welsh Interest centres on Elfyn Evans from Machynlleth who drives for the M Sport team in a Fiesta WRC while Kris Meeke from Dungannon is hoping to round off his season with a top finish in his Citroen DS3 WRC.
Former F1 star Robert Kubica has entered in a Fiesta WRC in what could be his last WRC appearance after three previous largely disappointing seasons.
The rally is based in Deeside but the dramatic high-speed action blasts off early Friday morning with stages near Llanguirig and features double runs through the well-known Hafren, Myherin and Sweet Lamb stages, either side of a remote service halt in Newtown.
The Saturday stages are based around Machynlleth ion the famous Dyfi complex while Sunday features stages in North Wales including; Clocaenog forest plus a blast a round the Great Orme near Llandudno.
