Multiple fire crews are battling a 50-hectare grass fire near the A470 this afternoon.
Crews from Rhayader, Builth Wells and Llanidloes Fire Stations were called to the incident in Llanwrthwl at 1:17pm today (Wednesday).
A spokesperson for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews are responding to a grass fire affecting approximately 50 hectares of bracken and trees.
“Crews are utilising beaters, blowers and drones to fight the fire and monitor its spread.”
The A470 was closed in both directions due to the fire’s proximity but has since reopened.
Road users are urged to be cautious due to the possibility of smoke affecting visibility.
