Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service has issued an appeal to only call 999 if your life or property is in immediate danger as they tackle multiple grass fires that have broken out across the service area.
The fire service has been responding to grass fires at the following locations:
• Camden Road, Brecon
• Llanafanfawr, Builth Wells
• Llangors, Talgarth
• Halfway, Llandovery
• Cwmdu, Crickhowell
• Garth Road, Builth Wells
• Glasfynydd, near Llandovery
• Cwmdauddwr, Rhayader
A spokesperson for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “Our Control Room Operators are currently dealing with an extremely high number of calls relating to grass fires.
“Please only call 999 if your life or property is in immediate danger.
“Always call 999 in an emergency.
“For the most recent updates on ongoing incidents, check our social media channels to see if our crews are already responding to the fire.”
Fire crews were called out to Llanwrthwl on Wednesday afternoon to tackle a 50-hectare grass fire near the A470.
Crews had also responded to a fire in the same area last Sunday.
