Police are investigating after a sheep was left with serious injuries following a dog attack near Storey Arms.
The incident happened shortly after midday on Sunday, April 27, on the Pen y Fan mountain area near Storey Arms, when a dog was seen running loose and unaccompanied. Witnesses reported the animal chasing a sheep down the mountainside before launching a violent attack.
According to Dyfed-Powys Police’s Rural Crime Team, the dog then ran away covered in blood. Officers have released an image of the dog and are appealing to the public to help identify it.
The incident is being treated as a case of livestock worrying — a criminal offence under the Dogs (Protection of Livestock) Act 1953.
The force is reminding dog owners of their responsibilities when walking in the countryside.
