A LLANDRINDOD Wells woman who turns 50 this year wants to celebrate the landmark birthday by staging a concert at a venue in the town to raise money to support local scouts’ and guides’ groups.
Becki Moore of Trefonnen has hired the Albert Hall for the “gang show-style concert” next Saturday (May 18).
Talking about how her plan came together, she said: “This year I turn 50, and I realise that I have so much to be grateful for in my life: sometimes I feel it is time to say a massive thank you.
“Ten years ago I ran a charity event for an orphanage where I was working in Romania and we raised nearly £800.
“One decade on and I have upped the ante, hired the Albert Hall in Llandrindod Wells, and gathered some scouting, guiding and theatrical friends together and we plan to raise money for guiding and scouting in our local area.
“As a scout leader in the Radnorshire area I believe we all have a story that makes all the hard work, organisation and trudging around in muddy fields worthwhile.
“I would like to help children and raise money to help to make guiding and scouting accessible for all. It offers such wonderful opportunities and experience, not just for the children but for all ages right up to adults. I have been very blessed to have been part of such a wonderful organisation.
“We are going to have a wonderful, family evening – high energy, fun-filled, and entertaining.
“The ‘Queen’ will visit, along with some by now familiar faces from the Llandrindod Wells Theatre Company and an appearance from Marvin and Dolores all the way from Nashville, Tennessee.”
Becki, who has persuaded local businesses to buy advertising space in theconcert’s programme to help with costs, added: “Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.”
The event will be held at The Albert Hall, Llandrindod Wells at 6.30pm (doors open at 6pm on Saturday, May 18). Further details can be obtained by emailing [email protected]
