A seven-hour music extravaganza will be held in Brecon next weekend to support both a charity and a local church.

The ‘Music Marathon’ event will take place at St Mary’s Church on Saturday, July 13.

The event runs from 10am to 5pm, with most half hour slots taken up by local musicians. Any breaks in performance will hear the sound of beautiful classical music flood the church.

Internationally renowned Baroque violinist Rachel Podger will perform at 11am.

The event will feature a collection for St Mary’s Church, in an effort to catch up with its finances, as well as Medical Aid of Palestinians (MAP), which offers medical services in the West Bank, Gaza and Lebanon and advocates for Palestinians' rights to health and dignity.

Refreshments will also be available.
