A charity working across Powys and Ceredigion has received funding to offer free money confidence courses to anyone over 19 who is resident of either of the two counties.
The free online sessions from The Family Place Foundation have been designed to provide a stepping stone to help people gain confidence in managing their money and offers an easy practical guide to show how small changes can make a big difference.
The course assists in setting goals, learning money management skills, developing budgeting techniques and exploring saving strategies.
The final part of the course involves planning a day trip to Powis Castle, Dan-yr-Ogof Showcaves or The Silver Mountain Experience and then gives participants the opportunity to put what they have learned and planned into practice with fully funded admission to one of these destinations.
The money confidence sessions are delivered online in small supportive, non-judgmental groups. They can be accessed from a computer or smartphone and are made up of an initial one-to-one meeting with a tutor and then three, two-hour sessions that take place over three weeks. Participants can select a 10am, 2:30pm or a 6pm course time and a course start date between now and November.
Vivien Norris, Clinical Lead of the Family PlacesFoundation said: “These courses offer a fantastic opportunity for people to learn simple ways to manage their money with more confidence. We have had great feedback from those who have already completed the courses with participants telling us that ‘they would recommend this course to anyone.”
