On Saturday, December 14, children gathered at The Barn at Brynich to catch the Grinch in a Christmas themed fun run for The Drew Baker-Wright charity.
The children who took part were tasked with catching the Grinch before he steals Christmas.
The inspiration for The Grinch run came about thanks to one of the team at The Barn at Brynich. Rebecca Pritchard, a big fan of the book and films, and long-standing member of the team at Brynich.
The idea was to give local kids a chance to have fun, get some exercise and raise money for a wonderful local cause.
Rather than going for the traditional Santa Run idea, where everyone gets dressed up, they wanted to give the smaller children motivation to run.
A spokesperson for the charity and event said: “The children, and plenty of adults too, undertook a 2km off road run around Brynich, in hot pursuit of the troublemaker himself.
“With lots of distractions and comedy moments built into the plan, the kids had a great time and were all thoroughly exhausted by the end. Everyone was definitely ready for the delicious hot dogs, ‘Who Roast Beast’ and ‘Goose Juice’ back at The Barn.”
The Drew Baker-Wright charity is a cause that is close to the hearts of lots of people in Brecon. This local charity was founded in 2018 in memory of little Drew who sadly lost his battle with a rare form of cancer called Chordoma. The charity’s aim is to raise awareness, help fund paediatric chordoma research and to support UK families affect by this rare childhood cancer.
The spokesperson for the event went on to say: “The good news is, everyone had fun, we raised some money and importantly, the children managed to catch the green menace before he stole Christmas!”
