Llandovery Farmers’ Market will enjoy a Celtic theme at the next market this weekend.

The next edition of the market will take place from 10am-2pm on Saturday, September 7 in Market Square.

Welsh singer and songwriter Rhiannon O’Connor will be followed by Irish music duo Henry Marten’s Ghost as a melodic background for the market of locally produced or processed foods.

Rhiannon O’Connor makes a repeat appearance at the market from 10am with her blend of traditional Welsh folk songs and her own original work. She draws inspiration from folk legends of the area, being a mother-of-three and her experiences of farming in rural Wales.

Henry Marten’s Ghost are Gill O'Shea and Padraig Lalor, who will produce a jaunty background of traditional Irish songs, ballads, reels and jigs from midday.

The market runs from 10am-2pm and has a wide range of foods and drinks produced within around 25 miles of Llandovery. It is the last-but-one market for 2024 - with the last market set to take place in October.

Market manager, Raoul Bhambral, told the B&R: “I am delighted to welcome Coed Talylan to their first market.

“They farm a range of mushrooms grown in their beautiful woodlands near Bethlehem.”

Drinks throughout the event will come from Brecon Beacons Cider, with Papa Moonshine also on hand to bring spirits and liquors.

An additional draw to town will be Ynni Sir Gar’s ‘Sell Shop Repair’ event at the Rhys Pritchard Memorial Hall. This event is focussing on children’s items.

The final farmers’ market of the year is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October, 5, also in Llandovery’s Market Square.
