Lakeside Boathouse in Llandrindod Wells has been named Boat Rental Company of the year at this year’s Prestige Awards.

The awards ceremony took place on Tuesday, July 23 at Ashton Gate Stadium in Bristol, and celebrated businesses and individuals that provide excellent products and services in their area.

On the night, the team from Lakeside Boathouse were announced as winners of the Boat Rental Company of the year and went up on stage to collect their award.

After receiving their award, owner of Lakeside Boathouse, Lee Percy, told The Brecon & Radnor Express: “We were really, really chuffed to be announced winners of the award. It was a bit of a shock as we were up against a lot of big competition, but it was really nice to achieve some recognition for all the hard work that we put in.

“We weren’t expecting to win, but we went along as a nominee. It’s a big award for a small venue in Llandrindod Wells so we certainly were not expecting to win and we’ve done quite well.

“We have accomplished a lot in the last four years, so we’re chuffed, really pleased.”

The business started just over four years ago in 2020. Lee took over the venue, where there was just a small gift shop and a gentleman running small dragon boats on the water.

Since taking on the venue, they have created an award-winning ice cream parlour in the shop, which was named as the No.1 Ice Cream Parlour in Wales.

Last year the Boathouse was named Best Boat and Canoe Hire Attraction in Wales as part of Best British Getaway Awards 2023 by SME News.

The business now has another award to add to its collection.

The Boathouse offers hire sessions for Dragon Boats, Canoes, Kayaks, Stand up Paddleboards (SUP’s) and even Rafts. They also run lessons and courses for bushcraft, canoeing, cycling and fishing. The team offers corporate days, and host stag and hen dos. A range of events take place across the year with their most recent event being a pirate race night.
