A local dancing group at risk of closure has written a poem in an attempt to attract new members.

The English Country and European Circle Dancing group meets in Glasbury Village Hall every Wednesday morning and is desperate to boost its membership.

If you are interested in joining this friendly group, then please ring Susan on 01544 327337.

The poem

Oh, please come country dancing,

You’d really have a ball.

We are quite friendly people,

At Glasbury Village Hall

We’ve added circle dancing,

For energetic fun .

We dance to Blaydon Races,

For that’s a jolly one.

We meet on Wednesday mornings,

It’s just £4 a time.

Our numbers are now dwindling,

That’s why I’ve done this rhyme!

The steps are very easy,

The music’s very cool.

It keeps you fit and helps your brain,

It isn’t like at school.

We always start at 10am,

Then have a break for tea.

And go off home at midday,

Just have a try for free!
