Powys Brecknock Federation of Women’s Institutes (PBFWI) held a craft workshop day on Saturday, February 22, at the Bowls Clubhouse in Brecon.
Members took part in either felting, led by Beth from Aberhonddu Angels WI, or beginner’s crochet, taught by Jan from Bwlch and Cathedine WI with assistance from Rhiannon (Llanfrynach and Cantref WI) and Jan (Merthyr Cynog WI).
The event ran in two sessions, with members attending for a full or half day to learn their chosen craft. Felting participants created unique designs under Beth’s guidance, while beginner crocheters produced colourful squares that could be joined to make larger pieces.
Tea, coffee, and cake were provided throughout the day, and nearly 40 members enjoyed the hands-on experience. PBFWI plans to hold more craft workshops throughout the year with talented and friendly tutors eager to inspire members to explore new skills.
The next event is a history lecture by Dr. Sarah Ward Clavier, Signed, Sealed, Delivered, on Friday, March 14, 6:30pm–8:30pm at St Mary’s Church, as part of Brecon Women’s Festival. Entry is free for WI members, £2 for non-members.
