A best-selling musical comedy is being staged by local performers at The Albert Hall in Llandrindod Wells later this month.
The Addams Family will be brought to life by The Ah Players over three performance from Friday, May 19 to Sunday, May 21.
The show, which has been adapted for younger performers, is being run as a fundraiser for The Albert Hall.
The musical follows the story of Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, who has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family whom her parents have never met. She confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before - keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.
“Youth theatre is the future of the theatre Industry," explains Ben, director of the show.
"For many years, there has been a big hole in our area, with few opportunities for young people to take part in theatre.
“When we ran auditions for the Addams Family, we could have cast the show twice! The quality of the young people was outstanding, and it was with regret we couldn’t give everyone an opportunity to perform."
The team have formed a fantastic group of more 25 young people, aged between 6 and 14 to bring you this production. 50 per cent of the backstage and production crew are also aged 21 and under.
"Without these younger people getting involved in theatre, the industry has no future!" said Ben.
"I do hope you will come and support these fantastic upcoming stars, to raise much needed funds for The Albert Hall!”
The show will take place on Friday, May 19 and Saturday, May 20 at 7.30pm and on Sunday, May 21 at 3pm, at The Albert Hall, Llandrindod Wells. Each performance is approximately 80 minutes, including an interval. Programmes, raffle tickets and refreshments will be on sale.
Tickets are £8 for adults and £5 for children, available from thealberthall.co.uk or by calling 0300 102 4255. Any remaining tickets will then be sold on the door.
