Last weekend saw Powys Brecknock’s WI first show since 2019 in Brecon.
Held in Llanfaes Church Hall on Saturday, April 9, the show returned for the first time since before the Coronavirus pandemic.
There was a large number of entries in the craft, floral and flowers from WIs across Brecknock, as well as entries in the Rose Bowl and Brecon Cup, whose winners then go onto compete against the other counties of Wales at the Royal Welsh Show.
Mary Robinson, Chair of Brecknock WI said, “Congratulations goes to all the prize-winners at our Show yesterday.
The judges commented on the very high standard of all the competitions. We wish Merthyr Cynog WI, who won both the Rose Bowl and Brecon Cup good luck when they compete against the other counties of Wales at the Royal Welsh Show in July.”
Margery Davies, Secretary of Craft and Home Economics team from Llangynidr WI agreed: “There was certainly a very high standard, and I would like to thank all involved in organising an excellent event - our first Show since 2019 and very grateful for members taking part even if they didn’t win. It was lovely to see so many familiar faces and new WI members.”
