The family of a man who died outside of a hospital in Brecon have paid tribute to him.

Joel Symons, who was 24, died outside of Breconshire War Memorial Hospital at around 2am on Sunday, February 12.

Mr Symons, who was from Hay-on-Wye, has been described as "loved by friends and family".

A short statement from his family, issued by Dyfed-Powys Police, said: "On Sunday, February 12 Joel Symons tragically and suddenly passed away. Treasured son of Tyrone and Judith, best little brother of Ashley, adored grandson of Baden, cherished partner of Beth and loved by all his friends and family."

Dyfed-Powys Police said the Welsh Ambulance Service reported the death, from outside the Breconshire War Memorial Hospital, in the early hours of Sunday.

The Cerrigcochion Road hospital has a 24 hour minor injuries unit but isn’t a full accident and emergency department.

*Police have arrested a 21-year-old man from Hay on suspicion of supply of controlled class A drugs and a further three people have been arrested on suspicion of conspiring to supply controlled class A drugs.

All have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
