Glasbury Arts has received two grants towards its innovative school harp programme.

The grants, totalling £5,000, are from the Mid Wales Music Trust and the Gwendoline and Margaret Davies Charity.

The money will go towards its Harps in Schools programme in Gwernyfed High School and Clyro Primary School, which provides free harp tuition to pupils.

In addition, ‘John’s Challenge’ ended on July 31, and raised £3061.91 for the programme.

These amounts, together with money raised earlier in the year, means Glasbury Arts has been able to commit to continuing the programme in both schools for a further academic year for the existing pupils, and to add a further group in both schools.

Fundraising has already begun in order to continue the programme from September 2025.

A number of these students will be participating in the harp summer school between August 21 - 24 at Gwernyfed High School and will be playing in the final concert on the afternoon of August 24. There is also a concert on the evening of August 21, featuring its co-directors of music Eleri Darkins and Manon Browning, former royal harpist Alis Huws and classical harpist Emily Harris. They will be joined by jazz harpist/composer Ben Creighton Griffiths and bass player/composer Dr Ashley John Long.
