Patients registered at Rhayader Medical Practice are being reassured that the ongoing contract tendering process will not affect their access to medical services.

Powys Teaching Health Board has confirmed that the practice will remain open throughout the process, and patients will continue to receive services as usual.

The health board is currently in the midst of a contract tendering process for the delivery of General Medical Services at the practice. The process, expected to take three to four months, is designed to ensure the continued delivery of high-quality medical services for the community.

A contract tendering process is a normal part of the contracting process where potential suppliers are asked to submit business cases to the health board in order for them to agree arrangements for a specific purpose.

Elaine Lorton, Executive Director of Primary and Community Care and Mental Health at Powys Teaching Health Board, sent a letter to all registered patients, explaining the process. The letter reassures patients that they will experience very little change to the services available, including healthcare appointments and opening hours.

The letter reads: “You do not need to do anything as this letter is for information only.”

It continues: “I can reassure you that following the contract tendering process the Practice will continue to remain open. You will be able to access services as you currently do. As a patient you will notice very little change, if any, to the services available.”

Ms Lorton stressed that there is no action required from patients, and the practice will operate as it currently does throughout the tendering process. The health board has committed to keeping patients informed throughout, and patients will receive further updates once the tendering process concludes.
