Llangors Play and Recreation Park Project has been awarded a grant of £45,543 from the National Lottery Community Fund.
The management committee of Llangors Youth and Community Centre is helping their community to adapt, recover and thrive, thanks to National Lottery players by providing a children’s play and recreation park in Llangors.
It will be sited alongside the Community Centre and have safe, easy access to the community-run shop. The play and recreation park will provide a safe place for children to play and have fun outdoors, families to have a coffee or picnic and also provide a space for older people to meet and chat and enjoy beautiful views of the Brecon Beacons.
Chair of the project group, Melrose East said: "This new facility is much-needed in Llangors. Children’s play is vitally important for their development, socialisation, health and wellbeing.
"The children of Llangors have been without a safe place to meet outdoors to play and have fun for many years."
"There will be space too for people of all ages to meet and chat. After the recent pandemic the park will encourage people to venture out again and have fun.
"A huge thank you to everyone who plays the National Lottery for raising this money for good causes like ours."
Llangors Play and Recreation Park Project was one of six Powys groups to recently share over £175,000 in Lottery funding.
