Llanwrtyd Wells celebrated the launch of a new community e-bike project on Saturday, April 12, with an event at Dolwen Fields that drew residents and visitors keen to get in the saddle.

The Llanwrtyd Wheels e-bike project has been set up to encourage active travel in and around the town, offering a sustainable and accessible way for people to explore the stunning, if sometimes steep, local landscape.

Throughout the day, a steady stream of curious cyclists came along to try out the fleet of electric Scott mountain bikes and Jorvik tricycles now available for public hire.

From experienced cyclists to complete beginners, riders of all ages enjoyed putting the bikes through their paces, with many having fun getting to grips with the distinctive handling of the trikes.

Volunteers and organisers were on hand to offer guidance, and plenty of smiles and laughter could be seen around the field as people gave the bikes a spin.

The new e-bike scheme features seven Scott electric mountain bikes in a range of sizes, and two electric Jorvik trikes - designed to be especially stable and accessible for those who may not be confident on two wheels.

The bikes can be booked online via the project’s website, www.llanwrtydwheels.com, or in person at the Neuadd Arms Hotel, located in the town square. The website also contains more detailed information about the bikes available. It features a selection of suggested cycle routes in and around the Llanwrtyd Wells area, complete with maps and guides to help users plan their journeys.
