EMERGENCY services were called after a car crashed into a Welsh Water building on the main road between Brecon and Bwlch on Monday evening.

The driver, who was trapped inside his Nissan Micra on the A40, had to be freed from the vehicle by fire services before he was taken to Nevill Hall Hospital in Abergavenny at 5.40pm.

The ambulance service sent a paramedic in a rapid response vehicle followed by a crew in an emergency ambulance to the site of the crash.

The road from Scethrog to Talybont-on-Usk was initially closed off while the vehicle was recovered. However temporary traffic lights have now been put in place while the building is repaired.

Police have also attended two crashes on the B4560 between Llangattock and Garnlydan.

The first crash, which took place on Saturday, was a single-vehicle crash involving a blue Renault Megane.

When asked about the abandoned mangled Megane, a spokeswoman from the police said the registered keeper was found safe and well, but reported for driving with no license or insurance.

They said:"An abandoned blue Renault Megane showing significant damage was found at around 8.35am on Saturday, April 7, on the unclassified Rassau to Llangattock road.

"Enquiries were made to locate the registered keeper, who was found safe and well. He was reported for driving with no license or insurance."

The second crash, which took place at about 3.25pm on Monday, was between a BMW motorbike and a parked minibus.

A spokeswoman from the police said: "The female rider of the motorbike suffered serious injuries and was conveyed to hospital by ambulance."

Both of the vehicles were recovered from the site and the road was cleared by 5.45pm on Monday afternoon.
