A men's health event will be taking place at Brecon Volunteer Bureau on Saturday, June 17.
The event is being held by Brecon Men’s Shed and has a variety of stands from local organisations such as: Brecknock Access Group; Improving the Cancer Journey in Powys; and Accessibility Powys and Freedom Leisure.
Cwmpas will also be bringing along a Virtual Reality Google Street View Bike and other technology for people to try out using.
Age Cymru Powys will be providing information about improving wellbeing, benefits, energy issues including smart meters, later life planning, social connections, or accessing help and support at home and they will be happy to help.
There will also be loads of health information, resources, freebies and a cut throat razor demonstration amongst other things.
The event is taking place in Men's Health Week (12 June to 18 June) and coincides with Father's Day on Sunday, 18 June.
Brecon Men's shed are aiming to help highlight men's health with Saturday's event and to provide information and resources for supporting the well-being, physical, mental, and emotional state of men.
A spokesperson for Brecon Men's Shed said: "One man in five dies before the age of 65. Men will die on average 4.5 years earlier than women, and for reasons that are largely preventable. Which means that it doesn’t have to be that way: we can all take action to live healthier, happier and longer lives."
Men’s health encompasses a wide range of issues, including but not limited to prostate health, heart health, and mental health.
It is planned to have representatives from different organisations and a wide range of resources available to support men's health, as well as emphasising the importance for men to take care of their health by visiting the doctor regularly, eating a healthy diet, exercising, and managing stress.
Brecon Men's Shed is a friendly and welcoming meeting place for men to undertake a variety of activities, with the HQ being at Brecon Volunteer Bureau and meeting up on Saturday mornings at least twice each month.
