Five inspirational local women are set to talk at an event to celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD) next week.
Peterstone Court, Brecon, will play host to the speakers at a special event on Wednesday, March 8.
The evening will begin at 6pm with the panel sharing their stories, all with wildly different backgrounds, careers, and experiences. The aim of the session is to connect and celebrate unique female stories, sharing the challenges and successes that make up their paths in life.
Following this, there will be a Q&A session. If you’d rather ask a question more personally to a particular panel member, there will be an opportunity to do so during the networking session.
The five panelists who will be sharing their experiences are:
• Sheila Lewis - local racehorse trainer
• Clare Pearson - account cirector for Ministry of Defence contracts and former prison governor
• Donna Thomas - community and Queen’s Nurse
• Mandy Shepherd - artist
• Sue Rich - local yoga teacher
Brecon’s Donna Elliott has organised and hosted this event for the past five years in her previous role at the University of Surrey.
Following on from conversations with friends locally, she said there appears to be a real desire to bring people, mainly women, together in Brecon and the surrounding area to celebrate IWD.
Peterstone Court has kindly agreed to sponsor this event, allowing the group to hold the event for no cost, as well as providing drinks for the networking session.
Donna said: “International Women’s Day is very important to me, I am passionate about supporting women and making sure we celebrate our achievements. It encourages and calls for positive change, and it educates and raises awareness for all generations.
“This event gives us the platform to be able to share our stories, give advice and support to each other. It also gives us the opportunity to reflect on our own lives and hearing from inspirational women is inspiring!”
