James Evans has congratulated Donald Trump on winning a historic second term in the White House.

The Republican won the US presidency after sweeping four of the key battleground states and defeating Democratic rival, Kamala Harris.

The Brecon and Radnorshire MS has congratulated Mr Trump and urged him to keep “restoring” the close relationship between the UK and the USA.

“I’d like to congratulate President-elect Donald Trump on his election as the 47th President of the United States of America,” said Mr Evans.

“Your victory speech showed unwavering commitment to supporting working people and putting your country first is what people truly want.

“Keep fighting and restoring the close relationship between the UK and the USA.”

Keir Starmer has congratulated Mr Trump on his “historic election victory”.

The Prime Minister said: “Congratulations President-elect Trump on your historic election victory. I look forward to working with you in the years ahead. As the closest of allies, we stand shoulder to shoulder in defence of our shared values of freedom, democracy and enterprise.

“From growth and security to innovation and tech, I know that the UK-US special relationship will continue to prosper on both sides of the Atlantic for years to come.”
