More than £7,700 has been raised so far from last week’s Pontfaen YFC Illuminated Charity Tractor & 4x4 Run.
The popular annual run took place on Monday, December 23, bringing festive cheer and community spirit to Brecon while raising funds for two vital charities - Wales Air Ambulance and Brecon Mountain Rescue.
The JustGiving page for the event is still open, where you can donate to support the two charities.
Pontfaen YFC had raised an incredible £17,300 over the previous three years thanks to the generous support of businesses and the local community. And the most recent event looks to be one of the most successful yet - taking the amount of money raised in total to more than £25,000.
After the run took place around Brecon and its surrounding communities, it finished up at Brecon High School, where Father Christmas handed out presents to children, and mulled wine and hot chocolate were enjoyed.
Cllr Iain McIntosh (Yscir with Honddu Isaf and Llanddew) thanked the organisers of the event.
“Your hard work and dedication have once again delivered an incredible event,” he said.
“Together, we’ve raised vital funds for two fantastic causes: Wales Air Ambulance Charity and Brecon Mountain Rescue Team.”
Prior to the run, farmers parked their tractors to spell out ‘Stop Farm Tax’ in protest of the UK Labour Government’s proposed ‘family farm tax’. From April 2026, inherited agricultural assets worth more than £1 million, which were previously exempt, will be liable for a 20 per cent tax.
“The proposed inheritance tax changes will have devastating consequences for farming families across the country, and it was heartening to see our community stand together in solidarity with our farmers,” said Cllr McIntosh.
“Events like this bring us all together to celebrate the festive season, support our local farmers, and showcase the tremendous spirit of Pontfaen YFC,” he added.
