The Royal Welsh Agricultural Society has said that it is looking forward to welcoming the return of the Royal Welsh Winter Fair to Llanelwedd.

The winter fair will be the first major event at the Royal Welsh Showground since the 2019 Winter Fair which took place before the pandemic hit the UK.

The society sent an email to fans of the winter fair announcing its return over Monday, November 29 and Tuesday, November 30, and to reassure potential visitors that extra safety measures are in place at the showground.

It said: “It won’t be long until the showground is once again full of exhibitors, prize-winning livestock and Christmas shoppers as preparations for the annual Royal Welsh Winter Fair are in full swing. Extra safety measures are being put in place to ensure that everyone’s safety is a top priority when they are visiting the showground.

“As one of the finest prime stock shows in Europe, the Winter Fair draws crowds from far and wide to enjoy two-days packed full of competitions, festivities and Christmas shopping.”

As well as the usual competitions, classes, exhibitions and displays, the Winter Fair will be offering Christmas gifts for guests from hundreds of tradestands which will be spread out during the two-day show.

Guests will also be able to enjoy listening to carols and bands while walking around the showground near Builth Wells.

The society said: “We have had a tremendous response from our exhibitors and traders who are looking forward to set foot back onto the Showground in November. The Society are also looking forward to what is set to be a fantastic two-day event full of festivities in the lead up the Christmas.

“The fair will be opening its doors to the public at 8am every morning and on the Monday evening tradestands will be open through the evening for late night Christmas shopping and see the return of a great fireworks display. Due to the Welsh Government Track & Trace regulations we will not be able to offer free entry after 4pm on the Monday evening.”

All tickets will need to be purchased before the event through the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society website for the 2021 Winter Fair in order to comply with the current Coronavirus regulations.

The society has emphasised that in order to gain entry for the event, all visitors to the event in Llanelwedd will need to provide evidence of their NHS COVID pass or a negative lateral flow test on arrival.
