LLANGYNIDR writer John Peasedown’s latest book is a humorous, light-hearted memoir revolving around the relationship between a father and his three young sons.
It is set in Europe and follows the family’s adventures as they travel around on holidays, try surfing, sailing and windsurfing and even go trainspotting.
The book is based on John’s own experiences bringing up his three young boys. In the book the boys are all aged between eight years old and 17, so it is an important time for them all.
John, who moved to Llangynidr from Bath four years ago to be closer to family, said: “It’s a bit like the (Gerald) Durrell books but without the animals. There are no murders or car chases, and there’s no sex or violence. It’s just meant to be an enjoyable holiday read.”
John took up writing after a career in the Royal Navy and the Civil Service. He has always had an interest in the sea and this he has passed on to his sons. He said his life often meant he had to move his family – “we lived in 26 different houses” – and meant his three boys lived in some exotic locations but often had to adjust to new cricumstances.
