Builth Wells Rotary Club and Ysgol Calon Cymru recently held the local heats for Rotary UK’s annual Young Writers Competition.
This year’s theme, ‘Peace’, inspired a multitude of entries that were of an exceptionally high standard. The judging panel, comprising of three individuals, had a tough time selecting the winners. Despite the challenge, they were able to announce the victors for each category.
Elin Williams was declared the winner of the Senior section, with Lowry Baylis coming in a close second. Meanwhile, Isabel Crowden emerged victorious in the Intermediate section, with Qainaat Munir just one point behind her.
Elin and Isabel’s entries now go on to compete in the district finals.
Builth Wells Rotary Club and Ysgol Calon Cymru's Head of English, Anwen Nicholls should be commended for organizing the local heats of the competition. The success of the event is a testament to the value of encouraging and nurturing the talents of young writers.
