CHRIST College’s hockey 1st XI are carrying all before them this season after winning eight consecutive matches since the start of the season.
The team, which won the U18 Welsh National Schoolgirls title in dramatic fashion last March, have continued in the same vein scoring 46 goals and conceding just four since the beginning of September.
The eight consecutive wins since the start of the season mean the 1st XI have now lost only one match in their last 37.
The recent addition of Brecon Hockey Club and Wales international Beth Wood has brought another dimension to the team, with several other girls now pushing for Welsh caps as well.
The team’s success has drawn the attention of Princes Gate Water, the water cooler and spring water producers based in Narberth, who have announced a two-year partnership deal supporting hockey across all levels at the Brecon school, including providing new team kits.
The kit had its first outing at the annual cup matches played against Llandovery College on September 14.
The matches attracted a large crowd of Old Breconians, parents, pupils and locals and resulted in three home wins for the Christ Church teams.
Christ College head Gareth Pearson said: “We are thrilled to be able to announce this exciting new relationship with such a respected Pembrokeshire-based business.
“We look forward to working closely with them in the future and collaborating to promote the passion and commitment involved in team sports – all valuable skills needed in the workplace and greatly valued by graduate employers.”
