BUILTH Wells suffered their first defeat since October in the Spar Mid Wales League second division after going down 3-1n at Aberystwyth University.
Two goals from the prolific Rian Devlin and one from Ali Palmer saw the students three up before Jamie McIlroy gained Builth’s consolation from the penalty spot. The University side went top of the table on Sunday with Palmer and Chris Warden scoring in a 2-1 win at previous leaders, Kerry who replied through Matt Mumford.
Presteigne were looking to build on their win at Bont the previous week but had to settle for a point I a 1-1 draw with visiting Bettws. Llyr Lewis gave Bettws an early lead but Ioan Hughes equalised from mark Weiland’s through ball n the stroke of half-time. Presteigne enjoyed the better of the second half but were unable to conjure up a winner.
Talented youngster, Lyndon Jones scored twice for Newbridge but it could not prevent The Villagers slipping to a 3-2 defeat at home against Bont. Dewi Sion Evans, Mitchell Fox and Cerith Davies shared the goals for Bont whose win was only their third of the season.
Meanwhile Penybont are marooned at the foot of the table after a 4-1 defeat at home at the hands of fellow strugglers, Four Crosses.
