Knighton Town maintained their 100 per cent start to the MMP with Norman Lloyd Central Wales League (South) campaign following a 3-1 win over border rivals Hay St Marys at Forest Road.

Knighton Town broke the deadlock when Matt Tilson volleyed home past Ewan Peel from Jack Bright's eighth minute cross.

Former Llanidloes Town defender Adam Worton then doubled the lead when he poked home from close-range following a 12th minute corner.

The Saints eventually settled into the proceedings after suffering the early setback and Darren Horigan headed wide of Nick Cadwallader's goal from a 21st minute cross on the left flank before he struck a low shot across the face of goal seven minutes later.

The visitors had the first effort of the second-half but Worton's 25 yard free-kick fizzed over the crossbar in the 51st minute.

Hay St Marys did halve the deficit six minutes later when Horrigan was on hand to convert Ricky Lynes' cross from the right-hand side of the penalty area from close-range.

Hay St Marys then came close to drawing level shortly afterwards but experienced midfielder Rob Snedden's 25-yard free-kick was kept out by Cadwallader.

The Radnor Robins virtually sealed all three points, with 11 minutes of the match remaining, when substitute Taylor Wozencraft took advantage of some hesitancy in the Hay St Mary's defence before firing the loose ball past Peel.

Horrigan looked to reduce the deficit in the 83rd minute but could only find the gloves of Cadwallader following cross from the left before Worton went close with another 25-yard free-kick prior to the sounding of the final whistle.

But the East Radnor club had done enough before then to secure victory and continue their successful start to the season.
