THE final competition of the summer season saw all the competition winners of the year compete to see who could claim to be the best of the best, a shotgun start got the competitors all on the course at the same time ensuring that everyone would finish together and then the presentation evening could begin.
With scores coming in thick and fast, the leaderboard was changing quickly and a passing comment was made by one player that his 40 points would not be enough and that some bandit would win this with 43 points or so.
The winner did have 43 points, but off a handicap of one he can be called anything but a bandit, Rob Evans lipped out on his last hole for a tie of the course record but still can be very happy with his lowest score to par this year and this win sees him top a successful year with a club championship, battle winner and some very good rounds in between.
Once all the golfers had left the course and freshened up it was into the clubhouse to enjoy the refreshments of the bar and catering before the formalities of the presentation evening start.
With everyone fed and refreshed the Captain’s Dave Matthews and Jacqui Wilding began presenting the trophies to the individuals who had won.
Results:- First: Rob Evans (h’cap 1) 43 points; Second: Sam Lloyd (h’cap 9) 40 points; Third: Kevin Winton (h’cap 7) 40 points; Fourth: Fiona Jones (h’cap 22) 38 points.
