THE annual ’staff and board’ event was first devised so that all the staff and the board could get together and get to know each other outside the parameters of work and this had an extra meaning last night as Stephen the New Head Greenskeeper was able to attend and meet people he hadn’t already met.
A fun evening of golf is always a must for this annual match and this year was no exception with the give games all being played with a great camaraderie.
Although some of the matches were tight and they went down to the last hole, the overall result was a commanding victory for the board, this shows that the staff have been to busy to play as much golf as the members of the board.
A great evening was finished off by a sumptuous meal and a relaxing drink back in the clubhouse where the talk soon turned to the usual tales of errant shots or missed putts that could have changed the result.
Sunday saw the members play the Crug Stableford, a mens pairs competition with the best score on the hole to count.
The morning players made the best of the better weather and took the top three places with some good scores, first and second shared the same score with Matt Gardner and Craig Samuel beating Adam Goddard and Danny Illingworth with a better back nine holes, Graham Crawford and Norman Thomas took third a further shot back.
RESULTS:- First: Matt Gardner & Craig Samuel - 44 points; Second: Adam Goddard & Danny Illingworth - 44 points; 3rd Graham Crawford & Norman Thomas - 43 points. Six Callaway Warbirds for 2’s.
