THE main 2016 golfing year at Llandrindod Wells Golf club got off to a fine start on Sunday, with the annual Captains Drive-In Stableford.

70 golfers took part, with all sections being represented. Club captain Tony Price got the proceedings underway with his opening tee shot at 8.16am. Keeping him company was the new ladies section captain Heidi Owen, and the club vice-captain Peter Williams.

Alec Rolland, the senior section captain, teed off in the second group, accompanied by his vice-captain Paul Seymour.

Scoring was tough in the cold conditions, which made Lloyd Jones winning score of 39 points all the more impressive.

Second place went to Peter Horne with 37 points, closely followed by Steve Holdaway with 36.

The Ladies competition was won by Heidi Owen with an excellent 37 points, with Frankie Wakeford second on 35.
