Brecon Hockey Club has had an exciting start to the 2024/25 season, with a strong influx of juniors coming through the ranks.
From the under-8s, 10s, 12s, 14s and under-16s, all age groups are training weekly and attending weekend tournaments - often in the rain!
A big well done to all the young players involved.
Last Wednesday, the under-12s played their parents for the Emma Frieze Memorial Cup, in what proved to be, as you can imagine, a highly competitive match. The under-12s emerged victorious and were thrilled to lift the cup.
Following the cup match, the under 16s took on their parents, which included a few cameo appearances from the Ladies Senior team. This time, the parents came out on top! Meanwhile, the club’s fundraising elves were busy selling hot dogs and mince pies, raising vital funds for the club.
The Ladies’ team is currently at the top of Division 2 in the South Wales League, with only one loss in the first half of the season. Club Captains Megan Thomas and Bethany Bufton would like to say a huge thank you to their main sponsors Seer Construction Ltd for their support and to the Markets Tavern for their hospitality after their home games.
Brecon Ladies train on Wednesday evenings at Christ College, Brecon, and new members of all abilities are always welcome. If you're interested in joining, please get in touch via their Facebook page.
A special congratulations must go to Sally Rees, who represented Wales at the Over-60s Hockey World Cup in New Zealand, and even scored for her country. Everyone at Brecon Hockey Club is incredibly proud of you - well done Sally!
Finally, Brecon Hockey Club would like to wish all their players, supporters, and sponsors a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
