A RECORD-BREAKING entry of more than 450 runners took part in the third annual Powys Primary Schools Cross Country at the Royal Welsh Showground in Llanelwedd last week.

Athletes from schools spread across the county took part in the event held on the afternoon of Thursday, April 11 at the Royal Welsh Showground.

Elin Wozencroft, Sport Powys’s senior sports development officer, said it was a “fantastic day”, adding: “We received a record breaking amount of entries this year which was over 460 athletes and a total of 47 schools represented from across the county. Thank you to all our sponsors without whom we would not be able to hold the event – due to falling budget cuts with Powys Council. These sponsors allowed this event which is still in its infancy to take place and Sport Powys is very grateful.”
