After a 12-year hiatus Crickhowell Rugby will be celebrating the opening of their new clubhouse by hosting a 'Rugby 7s and Music Festival'.
The event is set to be held on Saturday, August 12.
Running alongside the tournament, there will be entertainment all day from local bands, singers - including an Elvis impersonator - and DJs. There will be food and craft stalls, entertainment for the children and camping.
Crickhowell Sevens was first held in 1991, ran through the turn of the century, and was last held in 2011. The 1998 tournament was particularly memorable when Jonathan “Jiffy” Davies played for a charity team and famously back-heeled a conversion. Some of the teams who have already booked a place in the tournament are Abergavenny, Brynmawr, Brecon, RAF Cwrt-y-Gollen, Cefn Coed, Ynysybwl, Abercynon and Machen.
Donations from the proceeds will be made to Macmillan Cancer Trust and Velindre Hospital.
This will be the official opening of the new clubhouse, for which club stalwart Alan Morgan was awarded Fundraiser of the Year in the Welsh Rugby Union’s Community Awards this year.
