Brecon will mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day with a series of events organised by Brecon Town Council.

The celebrations begin on Thursday, May 8, with a proclamation and flag raising at 9am at the Guildhall, followed by a community singalong at Bethel Square at 8:30pm, featuring the Brecon Town Concert Band. The evening will conclude with the lighting of the beacon.

The festivities continue on Saturday, May 10, at the Bandstand on The Promenade from 2pm to 7pm, with entertainment from The Band of the Prince of Wales, wartime-themed musical performances, and a set by Ruby Rouge. Visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic and enjoy traditional sports day fun.

The events are free of charge.
