Brecon Town Council is now White Ribbon Accredited, it has been announced.
White Ribbon Accreditation has been granted to the council for its commitment to ending men’s violence against women in the workplace and local community.
White Ribbon UK is the leading charity engaging men and boys to end violence against women.
As a White Ribbon Accredited organisation, Brecon Town Council will deliver a comprehensive multi-year plan to transform culture, systems, and the wider community they operate in. This strategy will help them eliminate attitudes and behaviours that lead to violence against women. White Ribbon Accreditation is an opportunity to make workplaces safe for men and women.
One of the actions that has been taken is appointing Ambassadors to advocate positive attitudes and behaviour and raise awareness within the local community and with partners.
Cllr John Powell, Mayor of Brecon said: "We are proud to announce that Brecon Town Council has achieved White Ribbon accreditation. It represents a tangible commitment to fostering safer communities and promoting respectful relationships. We are dedicated to creating a culture of equality and respect, where all members of our society can thrive without the threat of violence.”
Anthea Sully, Chief Executive of White Ribbon UK said: “We are delighted to welcome Brecon Town Council as one of our White Ribbon Accredited Organisations and are looking forward to working with them towards ending violence against women once and for all.”
