Brecon Town Council has announced a long-term lease agreement for Island Fields, ensuring the site remains a valuable community asset for local residents and visitors.

Recognising the significance of Island Fields as a cherished community asset, Brecon Town Council is eager to develop plans that maintain the site sympathetically, whilst enhancing its value for future generations.

To achieve this, Brecon Town Council is seeking input from the community, both from individuals and organisations, to guide the site’s maintenance, improvement, and potential uses.

Mayor of Brecon, Cllr John Powell said: "“This Lease represents our commitment to preserving Island Fields as a space that brings people together.

“Now, we need the community’s voice to shape the vision for what comes next.”

Residents and interested organisations are encouraged to share their ideas on how they would like to see Island Fields used in the future.

Suggestions can include activities or features they’d like to see at the site, as well as what should be avoided. Whether it’s recreational opportunities, events, nature preservation projects, or other creative ideas, Brecon Town Council welcomes all feedback to ensure Island Fields serves its purpose as a community space for everyone.

Brecon Town Council looks forward to collaborating with residents to make Island Fields a space for connection, inspiration, and enjoyment.

The council aims to ensure Island Fields continues to serve as a valuable resource for the community, with a focus on balancing development with its natural charm.

This initiative marks an exciting opportunity for residents to contribute to the future of one of Brecon’s most beloved spaces.
