Using a mobile phone while driving has led to a Rhayader man narrowly avoiding being disqualified from driving. Magistrates at Llandrindod Wells heard that a disqualification under the totting up scheme, would have a detrimental effect on the family, business and employees of 35 year of Gareth Rowlands of Nantmel, Rhyader, after he was spotted using a hand held telephone while driving.
Rowlands pleaded guilty and was fined £307 and ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge and £85 in prosecution costs. His driving licence was endorsed with six penalty points
