The Tai’r Bull Inn in Libanus has recently been awarded a national award at the Welsh Independent Retail Awards.
The family run pub was named as Eatery Of The Year for 2024 at the awards evening at the Raddison Blu Hotel in Cardiff.
The Awards celebrate the achievements of independent retailers across Wales who have demonstrated exceptional dedication, creativity, and outstanding customer service.
It honours the businesses that have displayed exceptional resilience and adaptability in the face of unprecedented challenges, showcasing their commitment to serving their communities and delivering memorable shopping experiences.
Upon receiving the award, Katie Coop from Tai’r Bull said: “We as a Team are incredibly honoured to receive this award. I personally want to thank my fantastic Chef Irish Ian and the whole of the crew and my family, this wouldn’t be possible without their support, hard work and commitment, so thank you and well done!
“A huge thank you to all our lovely guests for voting, we are truly humbled with your kindness.“
Katie and her family took over the pub when it was closed in 2021 following covid. Speaking about the pub’s growth, Katie told The Brecon & Radnor Express: “Taking over a closed pub just after covid was difficult but with dedication and lots of support here we are today after building up our little pub and restaurant known for well priced, good pub grub with lots of smiles, banter and selfies!”
The family previously owned The Red Lion, in Llangorse for 18 years. Katie took over The Red Lion following her parents’ retirement.
Tai’r Bull is run by Katie with the help of her two daughters, Kayleigh, 21, and Jasmine, 16. Katie’s partner Rich and her father are also involved in the running of the pub.
Following their success at the Welsh Independent Retail Awards, the pub is now through to the finals of The Food Awards Wales 2024.
They are for two awards; ‘Gastro Pub of the Year, Mid Wales’ and ‘Best Hotel Restaurant of the Year.’
