The Glasbury Arts Auction will take place on Saturday, March 29, at Christ College, Brecon, offering art lovers a chance to bid on works by some of the region’s most talented artists while supporting the local arts scene.

Viewing of the auction lots will begin at 3:30pm, with the live auction kicking off at 6pm.

This new fundraising initiative comes as Glasbury Arts, like many arts organisations, faces rising costs each year. The auction aims to ensure the continued success of their beloved programs, including the annual Glasbury Arts Exhibition, Harp Summer School, and Harps in Schools.

Among the works available for bidding are pieces by well-known artists such as Charles Burton, Alan Salisbury, Sally Matthews, Amanda Turner, Nancy Griffiths, Tracy Thursfield, Jenni Hall, and Mark Zytinski, along with a selection of local talent.

Peter Wakelin, former Secretary of the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments and Director of Collections at the National Museum of Wales, offered high praise for one of Burton’s featured pieces, describing it as “a subtle yet compelling" composition that captures a still-life scene in muted tones. The work also features a hidden portrait within the still-life of Roy Morgan, a supportive friend of Burton’s from Cardiff and the Royal College.

For those unable to attend in person, there are three ways to participate in the auction: in-person bidding on the day, email bids by 5pm on Friday, March 28, and a limited number of live telephone bids during the event.
