A choir from the middle of the Dolomites visited Brecon for the weekend in September to perform with Aberhonddu & District Male Choir.

Coro Fodom is based in the Fodom Valley in northern Italy.

The weekend started with the Brecon Mayor, Cllr John Powell, welcoming the visiting choir at an official reception hosted by the Brecon Town Council. The choir then visited y Gaer, toured on the Brecon canal and wandered the town before attending St Mary's Church for the evening concert.

The acapella male choir, which performs traditional songs typical of the alpine region, entertained the audience with their melodious tones. The event helped to raise funds for St David's Hospice Care.

On the Sunday the two choirs visited Dan yr Ogof caves and the rain did not dampen their spirits. There was a chance to explore the caves and sing a few songs in the cafe before walking up to the Cathedral Cave to perform some more.

Marc Williams, Secretary of Aberhonddu District Male Choir said: "The visitors thoroughly enjoyed listening to the Choirs as the sound echoed round the huge underground cavern. It was an amazing experience and a great opportunity to sing in the Cave and listen to Coro Fodom with the outstanding acoustics.

Ashford Price, Chairman of Dan yr Ogof Showcaves Centre for Wales said: "Their performance within Cathedral Cave’s ‘Dome of St. Paul’s’ was simply breathtaking. The natural acoustics and the sheer talent of everyone involved combined to create a very special memory for everyone in attendance.”

Aberhonddu & District Male Choir were honoured to host and welcome the choir to Brecon along with performing and building a new friendship - the choirs were definitely united with music.

Coro Fodom enjoyed visiting the area and soaking up the local culture and history.

A Coro Fodom spokesperson said: "It's wonderful to see how music helps people of different languages and cultures to stay together. This was the experience we had in Brecon. We look forward to continuing this beautiful, new friendship."
