A MUM from Tiarabad had her hair cut for charity last Friday after growing it to just under a metre.
Anne Ward, 40, had help from her three children and a teacher at their school, Ysgol Dolafon, to cut off most of her hair after growing it to 98cm over the course of five years.
The mother of three raised £523, which she has donated to Macmillan Cancer Support, while she will be donating her hair to The Little Princess Trust. She said: “I’ve lost family members to cancer, and my father-in-law had it and beat it. I’m donating my hair to the Little Princess Trust who make wigs out of real hair for children who’ve lost their hair for medical reasons, which I’ve done in the past.”
Anne last donated her hair five years ago, which is when she started growing it again. She said her reason for not ‘braving the shave’ was that she was worried that her children, aged five, seven and nine, would be freaked out by the change. Anne had her hair cut at the Bromsgrove Hall at Ysgol Dolafon in Llanwrtyd Wells as part of their coffee morning. She has posted on her Just Giving page, which is still accepting donations, to say that she was “chuffed” with how much easier it is to wash.
