The X-ray unit at Llandrindod Wells Hospital reopened last Friday (February 14), with the unit at Ystradgynlais set to follow this week, both featuring new state-of-the-art equipment.

Meanwhile, the X-ray unit at Brecon’s hospital temporarily closed last week for installation of the same new digital equipment.

During this time, patients requiring X-rays will be redirected to other community hospitals within the health board.

This work is part of a £1.7m Welsh Government-funded programme to upgrade X-ray units in community hospitals, improving image quality, speed, and accuracy, while reducing radiation exposure.

The installations, which began in November, are expected to be completed by spring, reducing waiting times and improving access to treatment.

The first phase began in November, with Welshpool already reopened.
