The team of volunteers have experienced a busy period of call-outs as the weather starts to improve.

The busy schedule began on Tuesday, March 25, with the team receiving three call-outs. They were called out to Mid Wales for an injured female, a vulnerable male and an injured mountain biker. Aberdyfi Search and Rescue Team were thankfully on hand to help the team out.

On Wednesday, March 26, the team were called to Lower Blaen y Glyn area to an injured walker. They were treated by casualty carers on scene and then stretchered to an awaiting ambulance.

The team were called to the Pen y Fan area the following day to a walker that was shouting for help. Thankfully some walkers had managed to sort the person out and walk them off the hill until they met up with the team.

The busy week continued with a call-out on Friday to the upper Blaen y Glyn area, this time to an injured walker. The casualty was treated on scene and stretchered off the hill to safety.

The team responded to two calls in succession on Saturday, March 29. Firstly to the Llyn y fan Fawr area to some walkers that had become disorientated in the misty windy weather. They were located and walked off the hill, rewarmed and reunited with their vehicle.

A spokesperson for Brecon Mountain Rescue Team said: “Please ensure you take sufficient equipment even in fine weather as it can quite easily close in!”

Secondly, the team were called to the Cwm Lwch area to reports of a walker that had been noted to be disorientated and was unsure that they had made their destination. The walker was located camping at the lake safe and sound. Rusty and Steve from Search and Rescue Dog Association South Wales were out also helping to find them.

“These are just some of the calls we have been involved in,” said a spokesperson for the team.

“Please stay safe in the hills and know that we are here for you if needed!”
