Snow fell in areas of Powys overnight prompting police to issue a warning over “extremely poor” road conditions.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warnings across much of Powys - both for today and for further snow tomorrow.

The forecaster has said to expect travel delays as well as cancellations for public transport. There have also been warnings of power cuts.

Some shops in Hay-on-Wye have remained closed.

16 schools in the north of the county are closed today.

Dyfed Powys Police said in a warning: "Road conditions are extremely poor across Powys and north Ceredigion due to ice and snow. Only travel if your journey is necessary.

“Plan extra time for your journey. Increase your distances. Slow down.”
